Shalyn Dussiaume-Good, RP,

Managing Director

Shalyn Dussiaume-Good started Shalyn Dussiaume Counselling in 2017. Shalyn is a Registered Psychotherapist and is currently working with a wide variety of clients with varying life issues. Her therapy models include using Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy. Some of her clinical expertise includes treating depression, anxiety, relationship issues, anger management, addiction, trauma, post-partum challenges, borderline personality disorder, and more. 

She has worked with children, teens, and adults, from various walks of life in Ontario, Canada; Nevada, USA; and Cornwall, England. At the beginning of her career she was a counsellor in school settings, helping children with traumatic brain injuries, varying degrees of mental illness, family issues, and identity disorders. She provided her young clients with support and guidance, and helped them to cope, heal, and move on to become healthy, functional adults.

A portion of her career has been spent working in Residential Counselling environments helping teens and children with varying degrees of mental illness and developmental delays, using techniques such as music and play therapy. She has also worked with adults with Schizophrenia and criminal backgrounds in a residential environment.

In a private practice counselling setting she has worked with adults recovering from a motor vehicle accident. Currently in private practice, she works with individuals, families, and couples providing treatment.

 

She earned a Bachelor Honours Degree in Women Studies and Psychology from Laurentian University and she completed her Master of Counselling Psychology Degree through Yorkville University. She is a Registered member in good standing with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario and the Ontario Association of Mental Health Professionals (where she is also a current board member) since 2016. She is also a volunteer, author, board member, supervisor, and mother.

Her vast experiences with a varied population of clientele and her continuing education efforts have equipped her with a valuable and unique skill set. Along with her empathy and passion, Shalyn is honest and forthcoming. Her drive to help others enables her to be a dedicated, effective, and successful Psychotherapist/supervisor.

Stanlee Dussiaume-Good, Therapy Dog

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Stanlee is an emotional support/therapy dog on site at the St Marys location. He is a toy fox terrier. He is trained to recognize and provide comfort for those with anxiety and mood disorders. He does this automatically so if there is a fear or dislike for dogs please let us know so we can accommodate you.

Rochelle Benny Gerard, RP

 

Rochelle is dedicated to supporting individuals, couples and families throughout the therapeutic process. She will lower the initial feelings of intimidation for therapy by providing warmth, empathy and unconditional positive regard throughout the journey. She is committed to using a collaborative client-centered approach throughout the therapeutic process supporting clients experiencing relationship, identity, emotional and self-esteem issues and other life challenges. Her goal is to help clients develop long lasting life changes by enhancing their strengths, developing healthy coping skills and habits and improving their overall quality of life.

Rochelle is a Master’s Level Therapist and a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario. Prior to this, she worked at the Canadian Mental Health Association as a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Coach, helping individuals experiencing depression, anxiety and stress through the use of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy workbooks. She has extensive experience working with diverse clients of all ages and has helped clients successfully achieve their therapeutic goals.

Rochelle strives to ensure that her clients feel heard, validated and can comfortably express their concerns while building the confidence and independence they need to successfully handle future life challenges. She is excited to be a part of Shalyn Dussiaume Counselling and is looking forward to supporting her clients towards greater emotional and relational health.

Danielle Dekel, RP (Qualifying)

Danielle Dekel is a dedicated Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with a passion for helping individuals navigate life's challenges and uncover their inner resilience. With a Master's degree in Psychotherapy from Yorkville University and a background in Psychology and Education, she brings a unique blend of academic knowledge and practical experience to her practice.

 

Her approach is grounded in creating a warm, empathetic, and safe space where clients can explore the deeper emotional patterns that shape their experiences. Combining emotion-focused, psychodynamic, and solution-focused techniques, she helps clients better understand their feelings, identify recurring themes in their lives, and develop practical strategies to move forward.

 

Whether you're working through relationship challenges, struggling with self-esteem, or navigating a difficult life transition, she is here to help you process emotions, gain insight, and create meaningful change. She can help you feel more connected, confident, and empowered in your life.

Kai DeMaeyer, RP (Qualifying)

Kai offers individual and couples therapy to clients navigating trauma, identity, intimacy, and relational challenges. Their work is grounded in deep respect for each person's story, informed by lived experience, clinical training, and a commitment to anti-oppressive care.

 

Kai works with people of all identities and neurotypes, with a particular passion for supporting 2SLGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent clients. They offer a collaborative space for clients to explore who they are, process pain, and build stronger emotional and relational connections.

 

Utilizing Emotion-Focused Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Gottman Method, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Integrative Sex Therapy, their approach is trauma-informed, sex-positive, and tailored to each client's needs, goals, and pace.

 

Kai brings warmth and directness to the therapeutic relationship and believes that real change becomes possible when all parts of a person feel safe to be seen.
